The Bontrager company began in 1965 by Keith Bontrager the company began building lawnmower engine powered mini-bikes. In 1980 Bontager designed his first mountain bike and Bontrager Cycles of Sunnyvale, California began. The Bontrager brand was eventually purchsed by Trek.
